Extra, Extra READ All About It!

The Killingly Public Library has begun welcoming the public into the building as of Monday, July 6, 2020. On its website, the library has listed all the changes made to comply with the Governor's guidelines and help patrons feel comfortable. It is important to note, KPL will continue its curbside service for all those who prefer stricter social distancing protocols. Currently, Killingly Public Library's reopening plan is listed on the CT State Library Division of Library Development Website. Highlighting some of the work and changes made to safely reopen the library:

  • Curbside is still encouraged.

  • The hours have changed. From 9:30am to 11am the library is open only to seniors and vulnerable patrons.

  • Social distancing guidelines will be practiced.

    • * Reduced occupancy

    • * Visits limited to one hour

    • * Limited number of computers available for use

    • * Preschool room limited to two (2) families at once

    • *Plexiglass at the circulation desk

    • *Checkout stations at each side of the circulation desk

    • *Hand sanitizer available at main entrance and checkout stations.

  • New Cleaning Protocols have been implemented.

  • Staff and Patrons are to wear masks or face coverings.

  • Computer use is by appointment only and limited to 1 hour.

  • Materials will be handled differently. Shared materials such as headphones, games and puzzles are unavailable until further notice. Newspapers will be removed at the end of each day. Patrons are asked to return materials via the book drop.

Expanded virtual programs will continue to be offered. Please take advantage of the many virtual programs available. Building visits should be thoughtfully planned and practiced with patience for your own safety and that of the other patrons and staff. "Take a look, it's in a book" MORE INFO
